Area wildfire update

Some area wildfire danger levels are at EXTREME.

Currently, in the High Level Forest Area there are six wildfires burning, four are held and two are under control.

According to Alberta Wildfire:

– Fire (HWF050) is located 25km north of the Town of High Level, 5km south of Hutch Lake. This wildfire is classified as being held at 602 hectares.

– Fire (HWF054) is located 9km northwest of Rocky Lane. This wildfire is being held at 56 hectares.

– Fire (HWF056) is located in the community of Child’s Lake. This wildfire is classified as being held at 5 hectares.

In the Slave Lake Forest Area, the wildfire danger is now at very high and officials warn dry grass will ignite easily and spread quickly with the wind.

Locally the Grande Prairie Forest Area the wildfire danger is rated as high and fire advisories are in place.
