NWJHL, NPHL finals all squared up

Geoff Dick and Brady Marzocco each scored twice as the Fort St John Huskies evened up the NWJHL final with a 6-3 win over the County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings on Saturday night. 

Oscar Burgess and Dean Whitcomb also scored for the Huskies, while Jeremy Niven, Blake Gillingham and Louka Richard replied for the Kings. 

Game three of the series goes Sunday afternoon in Fort St John.

Meanwhile, Morgan Maclean scored three times to pace the Grande Prairie Athletics to a 6-3 win over the Dawson Creek Canucks, and even up the NPHL final at two wins each. 

Parker Sharp, Lyndin Lewis, and Tanner Labbe also scored for the A’s, who held period leads of 2-0 and 6-2. 

Jonathan Jasper, Jeff Taylor, and Dolan Bjornson replied for the Canucks, who scored all three of their goals on the power play. 

Game five of the series goes Tuesday in Dawson Creek.
