New electric buses to be added to City fleet this fall
The City of Grande Prairie is looking to have their electric buses up and running by early fall.
Steve Harvard, Manager of Transit services, says there are certainly benefits to the environment that an electric bus offers.
“They are 100 per cent battery-operated,” he said. “There’s a reduction in the amount of gases that are produced, but also we won’t be needing to purchase fuel for those buses.”
Harvard adds another benefit is the fact that the new buses are almost silent as they don’t have an engine. He says, fully charged up, the buses can run for up to 200 km before needing a recharge.
