Section of road in front of the Legion to be named Veteran’s Way

The section of road in front of the Legion will be renamed Veteran’s Way in mid-September.

Project coordinator Barry Lazoruk says he came up with the idea as a way to keep the memory going of those who fought for our freedom.

“I have nine uncles and aunts that registered for the Second World War here in Grande Prairie.”

Veteran’s Way not only fits in with the Legion motto of “Remembering 365” or remembering year-round, but also serves as an educational purpose says Lazoruk.

“When people come into the city that have young children and the children ask what is Veteran’s Way, their adults will be able to tell them the story and make them aware of what veterans are all about.”

The unveiling is set for September 15th. Veteran’s Way will be from 98th St to 102 St. along 101st Ave.
