Female youth facing animal cruelty charge after video surfaces

A youth from Grande Prairie is facing a charge of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal after police say they received complaints of a concerning video.

Yesterday, RCMP were notified of a video that was posted on a social media site showing the abuse of an animal.

The 14-year-old female is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on March 19, 2018.

RCMP say the animal involved in the video was not injured.

The individual charged cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
