A Grande Prairie man faces a string of charges following the seizure of fentanyl and a loaded handgun.

Last Wednesday, officers received a complaint about a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot in the area of 104 Street and 99 Avenue.

RCMP determined the vehicle had been stolen and after a search found 85 tablets of Alprazolam, 16 tablets of Risperidone, a ½ gram of fentanyl, two tablets of fentanyl, 1.4 grams of powdered fentanyl, a ½ gram of Cocaine, 2 grams of Methamphetamine, and a loaded handgun.

Thirty-five-year-old Cameron Pike has been charged with the following:

·         Possession for the purpose of trafficking

·         Possession of a controlled substance x 5

·         Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

·         Unauthorized possession of a firearm

·         Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public

·         Disobeying court order

·         Possession of firearm while prohibited

·         Possession of ammunition while prohibited

Pike is due in court today.

RCMP say they would like to thank the public for reporting suspicious activities to the police and this arrest is a great example of the critical role that local citizens play in helping the police ensure safe communities.
