Annual kettle campaign kicks off with $500K goal
The local Salvation Army’s annual kettle campaign launches Thursday with a goal of $500,000.
Captain Peter Kim, Executive Director at the Salvation Army says the kettle campaign helps support the soup kitchen and the food bank in Grande Prairie to ensure that people have food security.
“The five weeks of the year that we do our kettle campaign helps support our entire year’s worth of services,” he said. “It’s a very important and vital time for us to ensure that we are able to provide the food and services that are much needed in our community.”
They had the same goal of $500,000 last year but came up a bit short with $473,000. Kim hopes they can hit their mark this year because many people are still depending on the support.
