Mar 12, 2019 | 5:34 AM

A former forward and Head Coach of the Grande Prairie Storm were part of one of the biggest upsets in BCHL history Tuesday night.

Cruz Cote, who hails from Falher, was traded from the Grande Prairie Storm to the Cowichan Valley Capital of the BCHL at the January 10th Trade Deadline.

The Capitals are coached by former Storm Head Coach Mike Vandekamp.

Tuesday night the pair helped the Cowichan Valley Capitals eliminate the Penticton Vees in 6 games in the 1st round of the playoffs in the BCHL.

Penticton had 79 points (37-16-3-2) during the regular season while Cowichan had 40 (17-35-5-1), marking the biggest upset in the league based off points in the last 14 years.

Cote and Vandekamp’s Capitals will now move on to the Interior Division semi-final where they will meet the defending BCHL champion Wenatchee Wild.
