Crews dealing with power outage in parts of Medicine Hat

Oct 26, 2017 | 9:43 AM

City crews are currently responding to a power outage in Medicine Hat.

Preliminary observations show the outage extends from the Harlow neighbourhood to parts of downtown. Parts of the southwest hill also do not have any power, and the Medicine Hat Public Library is closing its doors early due to the power outage.

City officials say the outage was caused by broken tree and power pole. Crews are working to restore power. Approximately 720 customers are affected.

The high winds are making it challenging for workers to repair the line as it’s on the edge of a ravine, but the city says they are working as quickly as possible.
