RCMP warning residents of new scam

The Grande Prairie RCMP are warning residents of a new pyramid scheme.
The Gifting Pyramid Scheme is typically targeted at women who are convinced to recruit their own friends.
New members pay a $5,000 fee to the recruiter to join, and each member recruits eight more, for a total of $40,000 each.
Though people may be embarrassed or ashamed, the Grande Prairie RCMP want citizens to spread the word.
If you have been involved in the scam, report it to the RCMP or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
