Storm pushed to the brink following loss in Game 3

Mar 11, 2019 | 6:44 AM

The Grande Prairie Storm are one loss away from having their season come to an end.

This after a tough 4-2 loss at home to Fort McMurray Sunday night at Revolution Place in Game 3 of their best of five series.

After a stale mate of a 1st period which saw each team register 8 shots on goal, it would be the MOB who would open the scoring 1:08 into the middle stanza.

Kole Gable would receive a pass from Tanner Miller on the right wing and fire a hard wrist shot on Kaden Lane which caused a big juicy rebound for Gable who would tuck it past the 17-year-old netminder and give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

The Storm came close to evening the game in the 2nd with a pair of power play opportunities, but Chris Curr stood tall in between the pipes for the Oil Barons.

Despite having a 23-17 shot advantage after 40 minutes of play, the Storm trailed 1-0 going into the 3rd.

Grande Prairie would finally break through 8:02 into the 3rd period as Zachary Okabe banged home his first goal of the post-season to even the game at 1.

Just 1:18 later, the Storm would take their first lead of the game as Vincent Milot-Oullet wired a one timer over the blocker of Curr to send the 1,351 in attendance into a frenzy at Revolution Place.

Unfortunately for the home side their lead would only last 19 seconds.

Tyson Scott would put a wrist shot on goal which was kicked out by Kaden Lane right onto the stick of Tyler Maser who put the puck into the yawning cage to even the game at 2.

Following the media timeout, the MOB would regain their lead as Jarred White found former Wolverine Captain Jaedon Leslie streaking down the middle of the ice and rip it under the arm of Lane to put the visitors on top 3-2.

The Storm would press for the equalizer in the final 9 minutes, but Chris Curr shut the door and Liam Izyk iced the game with an empty netter with 19 seconds left to give the MOB a 4-2 win and a 2-1 series lead.

With the loss, the Storm are now 1 loss away from having their season come to an end.

They will look to try and force a Game 5 back in Fort McMurray when they host Game 4 Monday night at Revolution Place.

Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
