Energy Efficiency Alberta CEO in Grande Prairie

Jan 24, 2018 | 12:17 PM

The CEO of Energy Efficiency Alberta is in Grande Prairie today to meet with members of the business community.

Monica Curtis says Grande Prairie homes are taking advantage of upgrades offered by the provincial government.

More than 3,000 households and another 100 multi-unit housing places in Grande Prairie have upgraded things like lighting, according to Curtis.  And another 94 applications have come in for rebates on things like thermostats.

She says the province’s energy programs are not just for homeowners, but there are opportunities for businesses too.

“We’re beginning to introduce programming like training for contractors that really helps contractors and other trade allies; solar installers and others to take full advantage of the programming, said Curtis. “And really to also take advantage of the interest their customers have in improving the energy use in their facilities.”

Curtis says the programs offered by Energy Efficiency Alberta have cut greenhouse gas emissions by an amount equal to taking 8,000 cars off Alberta roads for a year.
