Flood assistance available to Beaverlodge residents
People with the province’s Disaster Recovery Program will be in Beaverlodge today and tomorrow.
They will be taking applications from those looking for help rebuilding after the huge flood in that community August 1.
They will be at the Town Office in Beaverlodge today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and tomorrow from 1-9 p.m.
Crystaline Connell with Alberta Municipal Affairs says experts will be there to answer questions and help people fill out applications.
“The government is providing close to $2-million through the Disaster Recovery Program. This is to help cover uninsurable property damages as a result of the overland flooding or seepage. This is a result of the August flooding. We do want people to know that sewer backup is an insurable loss and so it is not covered under the Disaster Recovery Program.”
Applicants should bring a government-issued photo ID, a copy of their insurance letter, a copy of utility bills from the 90 days before the flood, and either a copy of the property assessment or of a lease agreement depending if they own or rent their place.
