Grimshaw workplace accident leaves one person dead

Oct 23, 2017 | 10:59 AM

Occupational Health and Safety is investigating after a workplace accident in Grimshaw left one worker dead.

Alberta Labour Spokesman Trent Bancarz says two workers were putting up a chain-link fence Monday morning when the fatality occurred.

“They were using the track loader to add gravel to the post holes and while they were doing that, one worker was struck by the loader bucket and sustained fatal injuries.”

Bancarz says a stop work order is in place for the equipment involved.

“Not the entire site, just the equipment that was part of the incident”

Peace Regional RCMP say the man killed was 21-years-old. Police did not release his name.
