Food Truck Fridays start this week
Food Truck Fridays will be coming to downtown Grande Prairie this week.
The trucks will be located along the Mamawe Concourse by the Montrose Cultural Centre every Friday between 11 a.m and 2 p.m. through August.
Revolution Place General Manager Scott Clark says the city wants to make greater use of the Concourse.
“Try to get some diversity of events there and we thought it would be fun to have a little bit of entertainment, (some) food trucks, and take advantage of some summer weather on the Concourse.”
He adds there should be a variety of trucks taking part.
“We’re trying to keep it as open as we can for the food trucks that want to participate. We’ve got six different vendors coming this particular Friday. It will vary Friday to Friday. Over the course of time, we’d like to introduce some entertainment in that area too, maybe some buskers, that type of thing.”
Clark says the Food Truck Fridays will go on “for sure through August. Right now, that’s our plan. When we get closer to the (end) of the month, we’ll certainly take a look at it and see if it’s something we want to extend into September. The plan now is to just do it on a project basis through the end of August, then take a look at it and see what we want to do as far as the summer of 2019 is concerned.”
What trucks will be there each week will be posted to the City’s website.
