Muskoseepi Park and Bear Creek Corridor to remain closed due to flash flood risk

Apr 29, 2018 | 7:54 AM

Muskoseepi Park and the Bear Creek corridor will remain closed for a number of days.

The city says many of the walking paths are under water and creek banks and slopes are extremely unstable, although they add no properties in the area have been damage.

They also say it is safe to drive on bridges that go over the corridor.

City crews will be monitoring water levels in the corridor in order to protect critical infrastructure, and RCMP and Enforcement Services will be monitoring the area to make sure the evacuation order is being followed.

The city adds the park and corridor will remain closed until the water recedes and a thorough damage assessment can be complete.

In the latest release from GPREP Sunday morning, it was stated that the water in the corridor has yet to recede, and residents are advised to avoid the area.
