NWJHL semis both go the distance

Mar 10, 2019 | 7:04 AM

Both NWJHL semi finals are going to a seventh game.

In Clairmont, Austin Hrehoruk’s second goal of the game at the 2:03 mark of overtime gave the County JDA Kings a 5-4 win over Dawson Creek.

Wyatt Lawrence also scored twice for the Kings while Corbin Doram added a single.

Chase Henrickson, Keenan Halverson, Brandon Rowley and Dylan McCuaig replied for the Junior Canucks, who scored twice in the final minute to force overtime.

Dawson Creek will host the seventh and deciding game in the series this afternoon.

Meanwhile in Peace River, the defending champion Fort St John Huskies kept their hopes of a repeat alive with a 3-2 win over the North Peace Navigators.

Cooper Willms, Gary Loewen and Aiden Craig-Steele scvored for the Huskies, who almost let a 3-0 lead get away from them thanks to goals from Calvin Sanders and Robert Lemay of the Navigators.

Game seven on that series also goes this afternoon in Fort St John.
