Mar 9, 2019 | 6:00 AM

The Grande Prairie Fire Department held its awards and medals presentation at City Hall on Friday.

Close to 20 awards were presented.

Fire Chief Preben Bossen says some of the awards given were to firefighters and emergency services who have been serving the community for decades.

“It’s a bit of a special breed that we get,” says Bossen. “It seems people stay for a long time. We have a lot of staff that have been here for 20 or 30 years and it’s just to reach out and celebrate milestones and a big thank you for the services they provide.”
