Provincial grants announced during Minister’s tour

Energy Minister and Dunvegan-Central Peace-Notley MLA Marg McCuaig -Boyd announced seven grants for community groups while touring her riding Tuesday.
 
Those include $125,000 to the Fairview Ski Hill for snow-making equipment, $9922 to repair the dugouts at the JD Park Baseball Diamond in Rycroft, $8000 for the 40th anniversary edition of the Bonanza fair to be held in July, $35,993 for a rough mower for the Lakeside Golf and Country Club in Eaglesham, $125,000 to turn a skating rink in Girouxville into an outdoor rink and year-round recreation centre, $125,000 to upgrade the outdoor pool in Falher, and $24,903 for a community centre in Falher to buy new chairs.

“As MLA for Dunvegan-Central Peace Notley, I have seen first-hand the amazing work of non-profit organizations in our communities,” said Marg McCuaig-Boyd. “I am so proud to be an advocate for these important projects that help support local businesses and create new jobs and making life better for everyone in our community.”

“As a parent and MLA, I know the importance of swimming pools, rinks and community halls to communities and am please to present these cheques to the community.”

A half-dozen politicians from the government side of the Alberta Legislature fanned out across Alberta yesterday to tour their constituencies.
 
McCuaig-Boyd and Finance Minister Joe Ceci will be meeting with people in Grande Prairie, Spirit River, and Rycroft today. 

Ceci will be meeting with Grande Prairie’s mayor and council at 12:30 p.m.
