Fundraiser being held to preserve McNaught Homestead

Mar 24, 2019 | 7:30 AM

The McNaught Homestead Preservation Society is holding its fundraising event in April.

The Society was created to preserve the home of well-known local artist Euphemia McNaught.

Board member Kyla Martin explains the money raised will be used on fixing up the house, and the event will feature auctions for locally created art.

“We have a comedian for the entertainment, and a dinner,” says Martin. “Then we have live and silent auctions throughout the night. A lot of auction items are donated works of art by local artists.”

Martin notes the fundraiser has been held for approximately 10 years.

She adds work on the house is in its early stages, but so far, Euphemia’s art studio has been fixed up, a boardwalk has been built and the barn has been restored.

The event takes place April 27 at the Beaverlodge Community Centre. Tickets can be bought at Eventbrite or Around the Block in Beaverlodge.
