Edmonton Trial

Man accused of trying to run-over pedestrians in Edmonton loses lawyers

Mar 28, 2019 | 6:37 PM

The man accused of trying to kill an Edmonton police officer outside a C-F-L game and running down pedestrians with a van is without a lawyer.

Abdulahi Hasan Sharif’s trial is to begin in the fall on 12 charges laid after the officer was struck by a speeding car and then stabbed and a speeding cube van later injured four pedestrians.

But his lawyers asked to be removed from the case last week.

Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Paul Belzil today cancelled 12 dates in April and May that were scheduled for more pretrial motions and told Sharif that he must contact Legal Aid no later than tomorrow.
