Court update: sentence after social media threat, trial set in sexual assault

019Alberta Justice says a Clairmont woman charged after a social media threat to shoot up a school has been given 12 months probation.

Morgan Cullen admitted to a charge of threats to cause death or bodily harm during a March 20 appearance in Grande Prairie court.

Grande Prairie RCMP say they heard about the threat the morning of May 7, 2018. They added that the post was seen all over the world and reported to them by police from Canada and the US, including the FBI.

They said at the time of her arrest, Cullen was not registered at any school.

Trial set in sexual assault case

Alberta Justice says trial dates have been set for a Grande Prairie teacher facing sexual assault charges.

Raymond Sylvester was arrested in June of last year after female students complained they had been touched inappropriately by the vice principle at their school.

His trial is set for December 3 to 5, 2019.

Six month sentence in drug bust case

Alberta Justice says a second man has been sentenced in connection with a September, 2017 ALERT drug bust in Grande Prairie.

Robert Kinnon was given a 120 day sentence March 11 after pleading guilty to a single count of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He had already built enough credit for time spent in custody to cover his sentence

Co-accused Khristopher Ali was given an eight year sentence in February in connection with this case and another drug bust.

They were charged after searches at four Grande Prairie homes September 1, 2017 turned up over a kilogram of powder and crack cocaine, close to 1500 fentanyl pills, methamphetamine, and cash.

Kinnon had been facing three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
