The driver of a jet boat was taken to the QEII hospital in life threatening condition after the boat capsized Monday afternoon on Bear Creek, just east of Resources Road.

County Regional Fire Services were called to the location at around 2:02 p.m., where the boat was found with the assistance of the boat’s passenger. The driver was still missing at the time of arrival, but was located soon after as a rescue effort was made with the assistance of The City of Grande Prairie Fire Department.

The driver was treated at the scene by EMS, and was flown by STARS to hospital.

The passenger of the boat was not seriously injured, and both the driver and passenger were wearing life jackets and safety helmets.

The RCMP is currently investigating the cause of the incident.
