CRMA Award Nomination

Revolution Place being considered for Canadian Radio Music Award

Apr 25, 2019 | 7:00 AM

Grande Prairie’s biggest live music and events venue has been nominated for a Canadian Radio Music Award for the Major Facility (Under 8,000) Award category.

The Major Facility (Under 8,000) Award category recognizes venues such as arenas, stadiums and amphitheatres, and looks at the number of acts booked, along with how they support Canadian talent.

Revolution Place General Manager Scott Clark explains 2018 was the busiest year in decades for the facility, which he believes is what caught the eye of the Canadian Music Week Broadcast Jury.

“The team here works really hard,” says Clark. “Our event managers do an amazing job of cultivating relationships in the entertainment industry and it all paid off last year with the amount of shows we had. Then, you combine that with the marketplace. Folks in Grande Prairie love live entertainment and they support it by buying tickets. You put those two things together and it gets us nominated for this award which is just outstanding.”

Since the beginning of 2018, Revolution Place has sold close to 45,000 concert tickets. The facility is up against others of similar size throughout Canada.

“To be one of seven finalists for Canadian venues is terrific. I’m very familiar with the other venues that are on that list. They’re all managed extremely well, they’re all really great buildings, so it’s nice to be a part of that grouping, that’s for sure.”

Industry professionals which include program directors, music directors and on-air staff will be voting on the Canadian venues.

The awards will be announced on May 9 in Toronto.
