Locals involved in horse races at new track opening today

Apr 28, 2019 | 7:00 AM

Edmonton’s new Century Mile Race Track & Casino hosts its first ever live horse races today, and some people from the Peace will be involved.

Tim Rycroft and his dad Tom from Teepee Creek both have horses in the very first race to be run at the new track, Tim as a trainer and Tom as an owner.

Both are listed as the trainer for other horses that will run in subsequent races. Tom is also listed as an owner on some of those ponies.

Grande Prairie trainer Darcy Hawkes and owner Dianne Delaney are the connections for two horses that are running today.

Those two, plus the two Rycrofts, will compete against each other in one of the races.

Ed Welsh of Grande Prairie also has a horse running today.
