Artists skipping out on shows at Calgary’s Saddledome arena

A top Canadian concert promoter says the roof on Calgary’s Saddledome arena is a key factor behind several big shows skipping the city.
Ian Low with Live Nation says the roof isn’t strong enough to carry the load of all the big stage sets that many performers use, but similar problems don’t exist at venues in Edmonton, Saskatoon and Winnipeg.
Jim Cressman, a concert promoter with Calgary-based Invictus Entertainment Group, says scheduling conflicts could also play a role in concerts bypassing the city.
