Wildfire hazard high in part of the Peace Region

The wildfire hazard is rated high in the Peace River Forest Area.

A fire advisory remains in place. Existing permits are still valid but new ones are not being issued.

Safe wood campfires, briquettes, gas barbecues and the like are still allowed.

The Peace River area has had 48 wildfires so far this season. All but three are considered extinguished. There is a 16 hectare one that has been turned over to the landowner. Another 6.5 hectare one in the Worsley area is considered under control.

The wildfire hazard is rated moderate in the Grande Prairie Forest Area and there are no advisories in place. There have been no wildfires so far this year in the Grande Prairie area.
