More work on Goodwin Road planned for summer

The MD of Greenview plans to do close to five million dollars worth of work on Goodwin Road this year.

Reeve Dale Gervais says a 19 kilometre stretch will be widened and rebuilt.

“It’s (a) fairly heavily used road in the MD. A lot of farmers use it and industry (uses it), so that meets our criteria for an upgrade.”

Gervais says this comes after another six kilometre section was widened previously. The two pieces stretch from Highway 43 to north of DeBolt.

He adds Phase II has been held up for awhile.

“It got delayed by a couple years on account of some difficulty acquiring extra land for the widening. That took longer than we anticipated. Now, we’ve acquired all the land and are going ahead with the project.”

The cost of the work being done this year is $4,847,988.10.

Gervais adds this work will lead to that road being paved in the next couple years.
