The Storm have added yet another forward from the Great Lakes State.

The team announced the signing of 2001-born forward Brent Loukus for the 2019-2020 season. Loukus will joining the team from the Calumet Copper Kings in Michigan, where he played alongside recent signing Sam Erkkila.

Loukus is a Michigan State High School all-star and was awarded the player of the year in the Great Lakes Conference this past season. He scored 27 goals and amassed 53 points in just 25 games. He was named to the All-State First Team in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

He also finished his high school hockey career as the Kings all-time leader with 86 goals, 107 assists and 193 points

Head Coach Matt Keillor is happy the team was able to lock up the Copper Kings duo to go alongside another Michigan product in Alex Nordstrom.

“These guys are exciting to say the least. Brent is a power play specialist, explosive hands and feet, and is dangerous when he has the puck on his stick,” said Keillor, in a release. “Sam will be one of the fastest, if not the fastest player in the AJHL and has an unbelievable compete level. To add these guys as part of our 2001 core is very exciting. Their both really great kids, polite and come from large hockey families. Alex Nordstrom spoke very highly of Brent and Sam and we put a lot of value in those conversations”.

The total signings this offseason for the Storm is now at five. The team has also locked up forward Adin Kennedy, as well as defencemen Cade Mason and Raegan Wiles.
