Minnesota State Champion commits to Storm for 19/20 season

The Grande Prairie Storm have announced another significant commitment to their forward group for next season.

Wednesday morning the Storm revealed that 2000-born forward Jackson Savoie will be in the line-up for the Storm as they take to the ice in the 2019-2020 season.

Savoie spent his entire High School career for St.Cloud Cathedral in the Minnesota State High School Hockey League.

In 71 regular season games Savoie had 33 goals and 40 assists. He also added 8 goals and 2 assists in the post-season to help St.Cloud Cathedral quality for the State Championships where they would go on to win the title in front of 10,000 fans at the Xcel Energy Centre, home of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild.

In a press release sent out by the Storm, Head Coach Matt Keillor praised the clubs newest forward.

“Jackson is a big, great skater and is a natural shooter that can beat goalies clean. He’s hard on sticks, great on the forecheck, and finds ways to create offense off the cycle. I think opponents will have their hands full trying to contain him down low and at the net. Having someone that was a part of a championship team will be a big boost to our locker room; the Minnesota State Championship is arguably the most prestigious U.S. High School Championship in North America, and Jackson delivered when it counted the most.”

Savoie and the Storm will be on the ice for training camp at the end of August.
