Air quality impacted in GP area as smoke rolls in

Update: A Special Air Quality Statement has now been issued for Grande Prairie and area.

Smoke from wildfires to the north is causing poor air quality and reducing visibility in some areas.

If you have breathing difficulties, you are encouraged to stay indoors. Children, seniors, and those with cardiovascular or lung disease, such as asthma, are especially at risk.

According to the Peace Airshed Zone Association, as of 6:30 a.m. the Air Quality Health Index in Grande Prairie was at a 7.0 or high, it was 3.0 or low in Beaverlodge and 2.0 in Wembley.
