Homes lost to fire in Paddle Prairie

Pictures posted to social media show homes on the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement have been destroyed by fire.

A sidewalk that once led to a home, now leads to a pit of debris and ash.

On Thursday the Vice Chair of the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement Lori Wanuch told Everything GP she had heard from a rep from Alberta Emergency Management who figured homes on the north end of the settlement had burned. She estimated this to be 8 -11 homes.

A post on the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement page late Thursday said 14 homes had been lost.

The massive and still-out-of-control wildfires in northern Alberta have now displaced around 10,000 people.
