Jasper RCMP say they responded to the Leach Lake area with Parks Canada and emergency medical staff about 4 p.m. on Thursday.

They say a 911 call reported a man had fallen approximately 30 metres.

Emergency crews found the climber and he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police have identified the man as Steven Stanko from Jasper, Alta.
