GPREP to stay active through the weekend

The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership will stay active through the weekend.

There are still 350 evacuees from northern communities still staying at hotels in and near Grande Prairie. GPREP says it has also found care for 50 pets.

The reception centre that was located at GPRC has been closed, but evacuees can still get help through a public information line at 780-567-5587. It is active from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

GPREP adds it is continuing to evaluate needs as several communities remain on evacuation alert. It is also trying to organize transportation for evacuees who may need help once they can go home.
