Flood mitigation project making slow progress

Jun 15, 2019 | 9:27 AM

A project designed to help protect the Calgary area from another disastrous flood is moving ahead slowly.

The province has provided regulators with an 8,000-page report on the Springbank off-stream reservoir.

Approved by the Progressive Conservatives in 2014 and then by the N-D-P, the new United Conservative government says it will do everything in its power to get the project built.

But there is no word on when construction would likely begin.

If approved, construction would take two years to have partial capacity and three years to finish the job.
