Weather record set April 3rd

There is a record amount of snow on the ground in Grande Prairie.

As of April 3rd, 2018, there were 70 centimetres of snow on the ground, breaking an 11-year record set in 2007 with 65 centimetres.

According to Meteorologist Josh Classen, the only other times there was more than 50 centimetres of snow on the ground in April was in 2007 and 2002.

The latest that the snow has stayed on the ground in the past 25 years was April 28th, 2002.
