PBR bull-riding is coming to Grande Prairie.

The October 5 show will be held at Evergreen Park.

Dave Anderson with BuckWild Entertainment says bringing this event here has been talked about for several years.

“How well the event would do here and finally, we decided to grab the bull by the horns and get it done. We’re quite excited to bring it to this market. We know that the community is excited about it. They’re going to show up and see the champions right here in Grande Prairie, right here at Evergreen Park.

He is is hoping most of the top 10 cowboys in the standings will be compete.

“The time of year is great, because they need a few extra points going into the Canadian Finals (November 22 and 23 in Saskatoon). It always depends on injuries and what-not. These cowboys take a beating, of course, but even if they’ve got the odd broken bone and a few stitches, they’ll still get on the back of the bulls and ride.”

The top four in the standings so far are Jared Parsonage, Shay Marks, Dakota Buttar, and Jordan Hansen. BC Peace cowboy Jacob Gardner is eighth. Fairview’s Cole Young is 27th.

Anderson says the Drysdale Centre will be the host venue October 5.

“The Drysdale Centre is under a big renovation right now. They are re-doing the inside of it and it’s all fancy-looking. It’ll be ready in time. PBR Canada was in town last week, looked over Evergreen Park and looked over the venue, and they’re quite excited about how it’s going to fit into that building.”

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. Alberta time. Check www.buckwildgp.com if interested.
