Distracted drivers targeted by RCMP over the long weekend

Mounties in Alberta say they handed out 68 tickets for distracted driving over the Heritage Day long weekend.

RCMP were out from August 2 through 5, doing what police call enforcement initiatives that focused on distracted drivers.

During the August long weekend last year, 63 distracted driving tickets were issued.

RCMP say in a release distracted driving can be very dangerous and anyone operating a vehicle should be concentrating on the road.
