Storm send Boucher to Cowichan Valley
Ahead of training camp the Grande Prairie Storm announced Friday they morning they sent Peace River product Tyrell Boucher to the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the BCHL in exchange for 19-year-old defenseman Doug Scott and Future Considerations.
Boucher spent 3 seasons with the Grande Prairie Storm and was an Assistant Captain last year with the team.
In 2018-2019 Boucher had 7 goals and 21 assists in 55 games.
“Whenever you make a trade like this it’s never easy. Tyrell was an assistant captain for us and was given the opportunity to play a significant role for us offensively. In this case, sometimes change is necessary and fosters a renewed confidence both ways. We feel Doug is a player, if given the opportunity, will excel in our system. Doug brings great speed to our back end and competes every single night. He plays to win and excelled last year in the BCHL playoffs when Cowichan pulled off an incredible 1st round upset defeating top seed Penticton Vee’s. We noticed similar traits in Jarin Sutton last year, and Sutton contributed offensively with 13 points in 20 games after joining us. Adding Doug to what we feel is an already a strong core makes us that much more dangerous from the back end offensively as well as defensively,” stated General Manager Mark Bomersback in a Press release sent out by the team.
