A trial has started for an Edmonton man accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend 101 times.

Silva Koshwal has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and offering an indignity to a body.

Thirty-eight-year-old Nadine Skow was found dead in a downtown apartment in August 2015.

Neighbours reported hearing screaming but did not call police.

Co-workers eventually went to the apartment and found her mutilated body.
