Soon after arriving to the scene, RCMP sent a description of the vehicle being driven by the suspects in this case to other Peace Region RCMP detachments.

With that description, members of the Western Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit and Grande Prairie ALERT were able to locate and arrested 31-year-old Michael Robert Corris and 56-year-old Joseph William Kelly, both of Fort St. John BC.

The pair were arrested in a stolen vehicle at a gas station on the east side of Grande Prairie, and a number of stolen items were recovered from inside the vehicle.

Corris has been charged with

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x2)
  • Failure to comply with recognizance and resisting arrest (x3)

Kelly has been charged with

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x2)
  • Failure to comply with probation order
  • Flight from police
  • Resisting arrest
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

Both males have been remanded in custody and will appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on September 26

Those charges are in addition to those of robbery, disguise with intent, and breach of recognizance for the Dawson Creek robbery.
