Brysen Howe says Dash to the Cache for Cancer was “Phenomenal”

Sep 2, 2019 | 1:28 PM

Brysen Howe wrapped up his Dash to the Cache for Cancer walk over the weekend.

The 12 year old Grande Prairie native has raised $17,258.05 so far from his 184 km walk along Highway 40 from the city to his former hometown of Grande Cache.

That brings the total amount that he has raised for cancer research during his young life to over $25,000.

And he says he’s not done yet, adding he wants to do more fundraisers.

“But I do not know what to do, because I would like to one up what I just did, but i just do not know what will beat that.

Brysen says the response and support he received leading up and during the walk was phenomenal.

As for the walk itself, he admits climbing some of the inclines was a challenge.

“The hills were amazingly beautiful – when you get to the top at least. It looks phenomenal off of edges and such.”

“But to climb those, you are huffing and puffing and your feet are getting tired.”

Howe paid special thanks to his family, who accompanied him for the entire five day walk.

He says he is not sure he would have been able to do it without them.
