Beaverlodge Town Council to decide on speed limits at tonight’s meeting

Sep 9, 2019 | 10:19 AM

Beaverlodge Town Council will decide at their meeting this evening if they would like to move forward with reducing the speed limits in town to 30 km/h.

A recent survey on the topic received 838 responses. 596 respondents (71%) said they were not in favour of lowering the speed, while 242 (29%) said yes, lower the speed.

Beaverlodge Council now has four options:

  • They can hold a plebiscite regarding lowering the speed limit in town.
  • They can either decide for or against lowering the speed limits.
  • Take no action at all.

The Town says they consulted with local RCMP who told them they would respect any decision made by Council regarding the speed limits.

Beaverlodge Town Council meets this evening at 7 p.m.
