Navs, Junior Canucks pick up Saturday wins in NWJHL

After dropping their season opener on Friday night, the North Peace Navigators picked up their first win of the season on Saturday night.

Robert Lemay scored twice and added a pair of assists as the Navigators won their home opener, 6-4 over the Fairview Flyers.

Jonathan Noskey and Tulsen Fawcett each had a goal and two assists, while Dawson Gour and Owen Chamberland also scored for the Navigators, who scored five times in the third period to erase a 3-1 deficit.

Logan Mazerolle scored twice for the Flyers, while Bailey Tokarz and Noah Ross added singles.

Meanwhile in Dawson Creek, Griffin Young’s second goal of the night at the 6:44 mark of the third stood up as the winner as the hometown Junior Canucks beat the Sundown Oilfield Services Sexsmith Vipers 6-4.

Ethan Buck, Brandon Rowley, Dustin Bahm and Tanner Bahm also scored for the Canucks, who fired 59 shots as Vipers netminder Tyson Walker.

Thomas Lavalley, Mikal Chalifoux, Turner Walker and Jordan Bartlett replied for Sexsmith.

The Junior Canucks hit the road on Sunday to Clairmont to face the County JDA Kings in the only game on the schedule.

Faceoff is 2pm at Crosslink County Sportsplex.
