Storm defence to get good test from undefeated Saints

Sep 23, 2019 | 11:45 AM

The AJHL’s stingiest defence will face one of the best offences in the league Monday night when the Storm host Spruce Grove.

The Storm have allowed just 8 goals against in 5 games so far this season, but coach Matt Keillor admits they will get a good test from the high-powered Saints offence.

“We as a staff and a scouting staff too, felt that our biggest upgrade in the off season was the back end. These guys can move pucks, they are very mobile and can skate and they have some size back there for their mobility.”

The Saints have averaged five goals a game so far en route to a 5-and-0 start to the season.

But Keillor adds they are really happy with their club’s defensive play as of late, having allowed a combined three goals in their past four games.

“It is something that we pride ourselves on, being really good in our own end and taking care of our own end first. We have been consistent but Spruce Grove is obviously having success and is one of the top teams so I think the guys will be chomping at the bit to get going.”

Puck drop is 7:30 at Revolution Place.
