CALGARY — The Calgary Flames have signed forward Matthew Tkachuk to a three-year, US$21-million deal.

The move gets Tkachuk, who was a restricted free agent, to camp eight days before the Flames’ season opener on Oct. 3 against the Colorado Avalanche.

The 21-year-old native of Scottsdale, Ariz., had 34 goals and 43 assists last season.

Tkachuk has 71 goals and 103 assists for 174 points in 224 career games with the Flames.

The Flames’ first-round pick in 2016 (sixth overall), Tkachuk won a Memorial Cup with the London Knights in 2016.
