Storm split games at AJHL Showcase

Sep 30, 2019 | 10:17 AM

The 2019 edition of the AJHL Showcase has come and gone for the Grande Prairie Storm, and the team skated away from Camrose with a mixed bag of results.

The club played their first game of the event against the Canmore Eagles on Thursday night, where a five goal second period helped lift the Storm to a 6-3 win.

Nathaniel Bierd had two goals, while Adin Kennedy added a goal and an assist in the victory. Kaeden Lane made 20 saves for his third win of the season.

Friday was not as friendly to the team, as they fell to the Okotoks Oilers 4-1, and were outshot 26-13. That includes being held without a shot in the opening frame.

Brody Dale had the lone Storm goal in the loss. Lars Kaliel made 22 saves in net.

The Storm won’t have to wait long to exact revenge on those Oilers, as their next game will go in Okotoks on Friday.

That is part of a three game, three-day road swing this coming weekend with a stop in Drumheller against the Dragons on Saturday, and again against the Eagles on Sunday. All games can been streamed online with Hockey TV.

The club will then return home for a four-game home stand starting next Wednesday, when they host the Drayton Valley Thunder.
