Busy night for NWJHL, GPAC teams

All six teams in the NWJHL saw action on Saturday.

In Dawson Creek, the Junior Canucks got a measure of revenge for a 4-3 Friday night loss in Peace River by beating the Navigators 5-1 on Saturday.

Chase Henrickson scored twice for the Canucks, while Craig MacDonald, Braden Streich and Mason McLeod added singles.

Robert Lemay replied for the Navigators.

It was a high scoring affair in Fairview, as Eric Dentinger scored twice and had five points as the Flyers beat the Sundown Oilfield Services Sexsmith Vipers 9-6.

Logan Mazerolle added two goals and two assists for the Flyers, while Kyle Cairns had a goal and four assists,

Rylee Hebert, Rene Girod, Cale Fox, and Thomas Dechant also scored for Fairview, while Larry Yellowknee with two, Mikal Chalifoux, Justin Doucette, Jordan Bartlett and Tanner Vinck replied for the Vipers.

The other NWJHL game on the night saw Fort St John edge to County JDA Kings 4-3. Goal scorers were not available from this game.

Saturday was also a busy day for Grande Peace Athletic Club teams.

The Ernie’s Sports Experts Major Midget Storm knocked off Red Deer 4-3, as Ty Toews, Nolan Flint, Dayne Tews and Tye Evans scored for the Storm.

Meanwhile, Zachery Shantz’s second goal of the game with 1:19 left in the third gave the Golden Arrow Bantam AAA Storm a 4-4 tie with Edmonton CAC.

Wesley Golden and Spencer Rheaume also scored for the Bantam Storm.
