Pedestrian hit by train in Blackfalds dies

One person is dead after they were hit by a train Wednesday afternoon in Blackfalds.

The fatal collision occurred during the 4 p.m. hour at the rail crossing at Broadway Avenue and Gregg Street.

The pedestrian, a 53-year-old man from Red Deer, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is not being released.

RCMP say the cause of the collision remains under investigation. No other injuries were reported.
