Hunt Mania 2019 Gun & Sportsman Show to stop in GP

Oct 17, 2019 | 6:43 AM

Hunters, campers, and outdoorsmen will have a chance to stock up on supplies this weekend when Hunt Mania’s 2019 Gun and Sportsman Show comes to the Tara Centre at Evergreen Park.

Randy Schlender, one of the organizers with Hunt Mania, says there will be over 55 vendors at the event, 15 of which are selling guns.

“That’s going to be right from larger people such as Primetime Guns, and Wolverine Guns and Tackle out of Red Deer. Also, there’s going to be a bunch of independent gun dealers there. They deal primarily with aftermarket or second-hand guns.”

He adds that anyone looking to buy, sell, or trade their guns can bring them, as long as they are in proper cases. Schlender also says any collectors looking to show off, sell or trade their guns can contact Hunt Mania to get a table for the event.

Along with the guns, there will also be the usual vendors selling archery equipment, camping supplies, fishing gear, clothing, and army surplus supplies. However, this year, Schlender says they have some unique featured items.

“There’s going to be, for the first time ever, the Water Tracks. They’re an add-on for any quad or side-by-side, which turns your quad or side-by-side into an amphibious vehicle.”

“Also, we’re going to have something called a Track Chair there. That’s a wheelchair on tracks for the physically disabled. It’s fully stand-up. The question I have had asked to me is ‘What happens when you get stuck?’ Which I answer with ‘I’ll let you know when I get stuck.”

The show will also feature a silent auction, with artwork, guns, equipment, and trips to Jamaica and Mexico up for grabs.

Schlender says between two to three thousand people come through the shows on average, and it could be even more this time as hunting season approaches.

The event runs from 4-9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
